Working in partnership with Manchester's Education Framework has enabled Bramall to develop our capabilities in construction across a wide range of projects. These range from building new extensions at existing schools to building completely new state-of-the-art schools.

Bramall have been successful in creating innovative solutions to ensure that the school buildings can also be used by the wider community, contributing to the Extended Schools Agenda. For example, at Our Lady's School in Manchester, community needs were fully taken into account and, as requested, the public now have their own separate entrances to sports facilities which are used by pupils. Manchester City Council have set stretching targets for access in the design of buildings through their standard of "Design for Access 2" (DfA2). These requirements are far higher than the government's national targets, as Manchester aims to be the most accessible city in the UK.

DfA2 ensures that the specific needs of those people who will be using the buildings has also been fully recognised in their design and construction. For example, at Haverley Hey Primary School, a key consideration was to ensure that disabled people could move easily around the building. As a result all areas of the school and its grounds are fully accessible to disabled persons. Features to ensure this include a disabled lift, ramps, tactile warnings to steps, circulation route doors with glazed vision panels, induction loop to reception and hall, wide doors to allow easy wheelchair access, disabled shower and toilet for community and school use. A number of areas have been developed which have multiple use, i.e. the halls with flexible partitions in between, shared practical spaces and classrooms, library / ICT area which can be used as optional teaching spaces.

Outside of school hours, the following facilities are available for use for extra-curricular activities, Breakfast Club, After School Care Facilities and for third party community use: Multi Sports / Arts Hall, Dining Hall, Kitchen, Piazza, Games Courts, Playing Field, Amphitheatre.
