Popular TV presenter Noel Edmonds teamed up with housing specialists Bramall Construction to provide a bumper donation to the North West Air Ambulance service (NWAA). Noel decided to showcase the generosity of Salford-based housing specialists Bramall Construction on his new programme Noel's HQ, which celebrates good causes.
The programme followed the progress of three tradesmen from Bramall
Construction as they carried out a £1,500 make-over to the
NWAA's airbase at Blackpool Airport live on air.
Bramall's kind-hearted team, consisting of Dave Lydon, Craig
Donaldson and Charlie Jefferies, worked round the clock to
refurbish the airbase by carrying out joinery repairs and
installing a new washing machine and furniture - making it more
comfortable for the crew.
Meanwhile, Noel Edmonds stepped in to provide the charity with a
£35,000 rapid response vehicle and a £1,000 donation to
kit the paramedics out with new clothes.
The NWAA has been one of Bramall Construction's sponsored
charities of choice for two years and has received £6,500 in
donations during that time. Any donation received by the NWAA goes
towards providing an air emergency service across the Lancashire,
Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside and Cumbria regions.
Dave Prescott, Bramall Construction's Managing Director, said:
"We're delighted to be able to help the North West Air
Ambulance service out in this way, and our guys worked tirelessly
to make the airbase more comfortable for the crew. The NWAA is a
really worthwhile cause, they operate in all our areas of activity
and I'm sure one day our staff and customers will need to rely
upon the service they offer.
It was also a fantastic feat to gain the endorsement of Noel
Edmonds on his programme Noel's HQ, as any publicity that the
Air Ambulance service gets is fantastic for their cause."
The NWAA receives no mainstream funding but offers a vital service,
serving a residential population of seven million.
The charity costs £3.5 million a year to maintain and is
called out four times a day, rising to up to ten times a day during
the summer months.
Lynda Brislin, Chief Executive of the North West Air Ambulance
charity said: "We can't thank Bramall Construction enough
for their kind donation. "The three guys worked extremely hard
during the day to refurbish the air crew's HQ, and nothing was
too much trouble to them. They were fantastic."
She continued: "When Noel Edmonds' show went live to the
air base I could hardly recognise the place! We wish there were
more companies like Bramall's that would support this vital and
worthy charity."
