Liverpool Mutual Homes and Bramall win Award for work on £30M scheme

Liverpool Mutual Homes (LMH) and Bramall Construction have won a national award for its work on a £30m scheme in Liverpool.

They won Housing Excellence's Regeneration Scheme of the Year award for its ongoing work transforming the Daneville Estate in Walton, Liverpool.

The work Bramall carried out on LMH's properties was identified by judges as an exemplar scheme of how to regenerate a social housing community. Some 330 houses received major upgrades last year, and the second phase to rejuvenate a further 270 properties is now well underway.

Using energy efficient products wherever possible, Bramall installed new kitchens, boilers and bathrooms, fitted new central heating systems, windows and doors, as well as re-wiring and re-roofing homes. The work resulted in a 100% take up of empty properties on the estate and has created a growing waiting list of tenants eager to live in the transformed houses.

Bramall was also praised for creating sustainable homes after its work reduced CO2 property emissions by 1943.7 tonnes per year and dramatically lowered future maintenance costs. Upgraded homes are now more cost-effective too, with water and heating costs reduced from a potential £800 per year to a projected £236.

All of the work carried out by Bramall meets the 'LMH Standard', which exceeds the Government's Decent Homes benchmark.

Construction Director at Bramall, Steve Parrington, said: "Bramall is delighted to have been involved in such a successful and transformational regeneration project on the Daneville Estate. It is testament to excellent partnership working that this scheme has been completed to such a high standard."

Steve Coffey, Chief Executive at LMH, said: "LMH is a tenant led organisation, and we are committed to delivering on the promises we have made. This award reflects our partnership with Bramall and our thanks go to them for the excellent work they have carried out to transform so many properties."
